Four centuries in two minutes, the camera never moves. A forested island of canoes transforms, building by building, into the world's most famous city: the Dutch fort, the forest of masts, the Brooklyn Bridge weaving itself together, the Twin Towers rising and falling in silence, and the night lighting up window by window.
