Cinematic teaser in four shots, shot on 35mm film — 2 a.m. sodium-vapor light at a highway rest stop, muted amber grade, deep grain, restrained handheld; real filmed texture throughout. SHOT 1 (setup): a tired salesman in his forties crosses the empty lot with a paper coffee cup, keys out, toward his old estate car — dented rear arch, cracked wing mirror held with electrical tape, a pine air freshener on the stem. SHOT 2 (turn): he stops. Parked beside it is the identical car — same dent, same taped mirror, same air freshener, and a second coffee going cold on its dash. He looks from one to the other, tries his key against both doors; both open. SHOT 3 (escalation): through the lit window of the rest-stop cafe, unmarked glass smudged with fingerprints, a man sits at the counter with his back turned — wearing his exact jacket, paying from his exact worn wallet, a plaster on the same finger of the same hand; the salesman's coffee slips from his grip and bursts on the tarmac. SHOT 4 (hard cut): the man at the counter stops mid-motion, sets the wallet down, and begins to turn toward the window — smash cut to black before the face. Audio: interstate hiss far off, the buzz of sodium lamps, keys trembling on a ring, coffee splashing on tarmac — no speech, no voices, no music
