Copyright & DMCA

AIMovies respects copyright and expects its creators to do the same. We respond to notices of claimed infringement that comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent laws, remove infringing material expeditiously, and terminate repeat infringers.
Reporting infringement
The fastest route is the Reportaction on any title page — choose "Copyright infringement" and add detail. For a formal DMCA notice, email our designated agent:
AIMovies Legal (Designated Agent) — legal@aimovies.com, subject line "DMCA Notice".
What a valid notice includes
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), your notice must contain:
- identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed (or a representative list);
- the URL(s) of the material on AIMovies you want removed;
- your name, address, telephone number and email;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner;
- your physical or electronic signature.
What happens next
On receiving a valid notice we remove or disable access to the material expeditiously, notify the uploader with a copy of the notice, and record the strike. Purged video files are deleted from our storage, not merely hidden.
Counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, send a counter-notice to legal@aimovies.com including:
- identification of the removed material and its former URL;
- a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address, phone number, and consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if outside the United States, a district where AIMovies may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the complainant;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We forward valid counter-notices to the original complainant. Unless they notify us within 10–14 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the material.
Repeat infringers
Accounts that accumulate repeated valid infringement notices are terminated. We may also limit features (such as publishing or Studio access) while strikes are active.
Misrepresentation
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing — or was removed by mistake — can be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. Don't weaponize takedowns.
A note on AI-generated works
AI output that copies or is substantially similar to a protected work can still infringe — "the model made it" is not a defense, and our creators accept that duty in the Community Guidelines. Complaints about a person's likeness or voice (rather than a copyrighted work) are usually not DMCA matters: report those through the in-product flow as impersonation and we will handle them under the guidelines.
